Uru Live Closes Again

Uru Live Closes Again

You know I had this big old post set up in my mind, my views on the closure of the game (again) along with other things.

But Alah beat me to it and pretty much summed up things perfectly for me.

Of course the cry of “evil GameTap” are off already, completely counter productive especially if Cyan want to work with GT in the future. Blame, in my opinion, like the Ubisoft days, falls at the feet of all involved, and yes that includes the fans.

But I don’t really care to dwell on that, what has happened has, not surprisingly, happened.

I guess the question of what happens now arises. Many are calling for Until Uru 2, I am personally against this to a degree.

A fan run UU server, I would be ok with (a lot of it comes down to whether UserKI’s, AdminKI’s and the like are used, they were a key point in putting me off of UU).

Another idea ties in with another call that has gone out, for a “Stand Alone” version, either back ported to go with Uru CC (which would take a lot of work) or as a completely new version just offline. I personally would prefer this, as I had much more enjoyment playing Uru CC solo than I did in UU. That said, perhaps having this stand alone version but having a small handful of hoods online for people to hop into to chat.

I’m looking forward to hearing about what comes next to be honest, I am hoping more D’niverse related items, as there is still a ton of things to do with it. Perhaps Uru’s future if it does continue is via stand alone expansions, with NPC workers in game to give the allusion to work being done on the various Ages and areas? I know I’d be happy in continuing Uru like that and would gladly buy the expansions.

I’m with you, Tweek. Although I’d probably be happy with Something Other Than Uru, I’d love to see Uru continue in expansions where we help NPCs to restore the Ages. Think about kayaking out to Kerath’s Arch to check lake levels with Laxman. Or helping Sharper hunt down a beast in a Pod Age.
